My journey with First Light Flower Essences of New Zealand® – sacred plant medicine of Aotearoa
I have been working with First Light® Flower Essences since 2009, and I continue to discover its magic and depth. I always love working with nature and natural medicine, both for myself and in caring for others.
To me, First Light® Flower Essences are nourishing food for the soul and spirit, and among the most versatile natural medicines I have ever known. They support all levels of our being and gently restore harmony to our health, without forcing change—always working holistically.
I deeply love the process of choosing essences for someone (and for myself!). It feels like listening attentively to a piece of music—an energetic current that reveals where tuning is needed—while sensing what nourishment will best support that soul in that moment.
During this process, my senses become highly attuned, and I work in quiet collaboration with the spirits of the plants as they step forward to offer their support.
There is always a strong sense of sacredness present when working with the essences, both in the choosing and in the taking. After many years of working with them personally, the changes have been deep and far-reaching.

Five families of essences
The First Light® Essences are grouped into distinct families.
Each family has its own unique role, yet they work together co-operatively — like plants in a living ecosystem, supporting and strengthening one another.
In my practice, I work mainly with 85 essences drawn from these five families.
